Luckily I Grew Out Of THAT Stage

Hermana Ostler’s Update – July 22, 2014
This week we went and visited the Hermanas in Valle Sagrado. My old area! It was so fun to see all the people I love in Urubamba. I got to visit Mabel and Edith. They are passing through a lot of problems but are still attending church and Mabel is even the President of her Institute classes. We were all so happy to see each other and she could not believe that I could speak Spanish now.

We also went to Ollantaytambo. It is basically a little hippy town huddled between about 5 giant mountains and Incan ruins. It is so fun, and yet so hard to teach people. I imagine that it’s probably like being a missionary in Oregon. As I walked the streets that day with Hermana Hoskins, I recognized a lot of people who just had a familiar air to them. It was like I had known them verrrryyy well before the mission. People who seemed really happy on the outside, but maybe were looking and searching for something a little bit bigger, thousands of miles away from home.

I recognized myself. These people were me in another dimension or something. These people were the people that I probably would have become if I hadn’t gotten it together and gone on a mission. People looking for one thrill to the next, and in the journey forgetting who they are, children of a loving Heavenly Father who wants the best for us.

Zone conference with President. We got to wear jeans and go to the mountains and ruins of Cusco and play with eggs and have sack races and eat some good red meat. Good time had by all. We talked about having a good attitude, about just being happy with whatever circumstances come our way.

Nothing much happened this week. I probably had some dumb experiences but I lost my planner with all my notes... I love you all!
Hermana Alex

This is the Family Ferrando. We eat lunch and dinner witth them every day. They are my family. I love them so much. We call Hermano Oskar a donut without a hole and other names and he makes fun of us and hides behind things so he can scare us... it is the best. They are going to the temple to get sealed this next week! WOOP WOOP.
I love how Cusco loves colors as much as I do.
Weird gringos "purifying" themselves in the holy water of Tipon. They invited me to do it and so I washed my watch in it. It was like being in Hood River again.
