Where I Admit To My Inconsistency When It Comes To Affection

Have you noticed that the titles to all my posts are getting longer and longer? I'm sure I could find some cognitive roots to this trend relating to my childhood or something but I'll just leave it at that.

Big news of the year; Elise and I finally cemented our status of Best-Friends. It was purely accidental on my part because I really don't like affection, excepting some individuals. We were sitting in our apartment, most likely eating, and we finally admitted to the fact that we were best! friends! and! soul! sisters! (This was actually said out loud by me, which is kind of cringe-worthy.) Then it got a little too sentimental so we traded some insults and voila! Now all we have to do is make things FB official and we can continue being wesbian wuvas.
Common sight around Apt 14.
It's really quite strange that Elise and I have been inseparable for almost two years and yet it took me so long to admit that we were da bestest of friendses. What does that say about me? Am I really that afraid of affection?

Let us delve deeper into this conundrum...

I don't like hugs. In my opinion, it's just way too intimate for mere acquaintances to indulge in. A hug is literally two people pressing their chests and bellies together. Weird. Amirite?
But I do like to snuggle. But only with my mother, my Karrie-Baby, or man-boy's I find very attractive.
I don't have a nose! Also, I love my mother more than jelly donuts.
My Karrie-Baby. We are the strangest little duo in every way but that doesn't stop our love affair.
And... that seems to be the end of the conundrum. I really thought my inconsistent behavior towards PDA was more complicated.

And while we are on the topic of affection may I please tell you how much I love this sporadic rain here in Utah? I do. For one, it reminds me of Oregon. More importantly, it means WORMS. Earth worms are such stellar little critters. As a youngster I would spend many an hour transferring the endangered worms on the road to the safety of the dirt.
There were tons of worms to save this week. Consider me an everyday hero.

The organization on this post is all over the place. Friends, PDA, and worms? Blame it on impending finals. Or assume my brain naturally doesn't make sense.

Yay for midterms!

And a friendly reminder to not squish the worms.

I Go Through Phases

Everybody goes through different phases in their lives. Elementary school, middle school, high school, college, etc etc. These are the basic ones. Others go through shorter phases in life such as having long hair, short hair, or being into Owl City or Nickelback. (Wait. I take that back. Nobody has ever enjoyed listening to that terrible terrible band. Nickelback, indeed.)

I go through phases as well. But instead of them being a period of years or months, they last hours or days. A short attention span combined with an overactive imagination yields a lot of short lived love affairs with a lot of pointless things.

Note: Although I do tend to fall in love with strangers or really random people for a couple days, this post will not be about that. But it is inspired by a very strange crush I have right now.  How mysteriousssssss. You will never know.

~ As soon as I went through the big P my hair turned curly. At this time I also lost the desire to take care of my hair which has led people to believe that I would look fantastic with dreadlocks. I trust that these people meant well but in reality they planted a seed in my mind. A seed that would grow into a terrible phase of my life.
The Time I Got A Dreadlock And It Started To Eat The Rest Of My Hair
As you can see it was a failure. And disgusting.
~ I love country pop music. Cue the groans and exclamations of horror...... Moving on. There is this singer named Jana Kramer and she is awesome and the most beautiful person ever... and she has a middle part. This one is for you Jana. Thank you for inspiring me to part my hair in the middle for an entire weekend. It was ugly.
That One Weekend Where I Parted My Hair In The Middle And Went To Public Places
Oh Jana. And feel free to compliment my sexy friend Alex. She is gorgeous.
~ It started as a thing to do after my family abandoned me for a week this summer. Quickly it turned into a very obsessive phase which threatened my already threadbare social skills. My friends didn't see me for a week. Literally. I think I avoided phone calls and texts to continue my addictive habit.
The Paint By Numbers Phase That Resulted In Me Dropping Off The Face Of The Planet
I did sign it in case someone was wondering. It may be a lame phase but I also had TALENT.
~ I have a lot of silly dreams. Recent ones have included me becoming a crane operator or meeting the love of my life as I check the mail after doing P90X.  In early high school, I wanted to be on America's Next Top Model and WIN. So me and my friends started building up a portfolio. Naturally.

I wish I could say this was a joke, but I honestly thought I was hot stuff.
~ This past summer my little brother Bruce stole a bird from a nest and it became our pet. His name was Floyd. And I loved him. For about a week and a half. And then I hated that little avian. Oh Floyd, you really pushed my buttons, always begging for food and pooping on me and flying around your cage and squawking all night.
The Phase Where I Loved Floyd- And The Phase Afterwards Where I Didn't
Such a charismatic and obnoxious robin.
~ My illustrious High school experience was something that no one will remember. Excepting one thing. Kenzie and I's costumes to the 2011 Sadie Hawkins Dance. Now I don't want to seem like one of those people who talks about their "glory days" but that was my one true night of glory. WE WERE A HIT. Our wonderful costumes even got us to be the literal poster children to notifying people what the drinking age is at The Tacqueria. So, yes. I do consider myself somewhat famous.

Pinnacle of my existence. It can only go down from there.

Lets talk about HEDGEHOGS

Important news folks, I saw a hedgehog in the wild two days ago.

Take a moment to process that.

YES. A real hedgehog up in American Fork Canyon. I was cross country skiing down this treacherously icy road when I saw a little critter scamper across my path. On closer investigation I found that it was indeed a hedgehog and I proceeded to squeal with delight down the rest of the hill.

Everyone has permission to buy me one of these as a Welcome-Home-From-Your-Mission-Present in two years.

This one is wearing a tiny Santa hat.
And this little guy is yawning.
The whole point of this post was to notify you that wild hedgehog sightings are scarce, but not non-existent. You're welcome for the valuable information.

And did I mention that cross country skiing is terrifyingly exhilarating? I think there is something about having no control that just makes it ten times more hilarious.

And don't get me started on sledding. I went for the first time in years this week. SO. PAINFUL. I am fairly certain that nothing hurts children. We went to the local sledding hill and the kids there were maniacs. Huge jump, flat landing, on a tube? No thanks.

I am just so grateful for all of the wonderful adventures I get to go on everyday. Life is the best gift we are given. There are so many things I haven't experienced yet and I am just so excited for everything that will come my way. For instance, I am going to get my very own library card today so I can read a million books on my road trip to OREGON this weekend. I am very very very happy that I will get to ski ski and read read and play play with my family for a couple of days. So go on an adventure and smile because there are wonderful things like hedgehogs and snow in this world.

Da Bloggity Blog

Hello there blogosphere! This is about the most awkward thing ever, but I've heard blogging is fun? And exciting? And usually completely anonymous because no one actually reads these things? Anywho, I am halfway excited to start telling the worldwide web about my fascinating life. That may have sounded sarcastic but in reality I love my life! It is the greastest most bestest thing ever.

I love to go on adventures and have fun everyday. I am obsessed with the outdoors and all activities that pertain to it. Skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and windsurfing are just some of the wonderful adventures that I participate in daily. Now please do not confuse me with being good at any of these... because that would be untruthful. I hope to use this little blog as a fun way to record all of the fun things that I did that day.

Other fun facts about me:
Oregon is my home and my love
I am a Mormon
I am going to be a full time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (obnoxiously long name much?). I will serve in Cusco Peru.
I am obsessed with Cusco Peru. (Internet searches of Peru have taken over my life!)
Food kind of rules my life.
Baby animals make me cry and laugh and basically cause me to go completely bonkers.
I am studying Therapeutic Recreation.
My friends and family are better than yours. (hehehehehehe... but really.)

Time to stop zoning out in my excessively boring management class. Maybe I should start google imaging Peruvian animals?
